THE AREA
A reflection of Morocco's booming economy can be seen in the £2.2 billion King Mohammed VI and a select group of international firms have invested into the six Plan Azur projects.
With 6 coastal resorts being built between now and 2010, the first at Saidia on Morocco's Mediterranean coast, the aim of the King and the Moroccan government is to attract 10 million tourists by 2010.
The coastal areas of Morocco are being targeted and much is being invested into their infrastructure and with properties benefiting from the exemption of rental tax for five years, no inheritance tax and no capital gains if the property is sold after 10 years this emerging market is rocketing.
Saidia - nicknamed 'the Blue Pearl' - is a seaside resort located on the Mediterranean coast and 58 km from the north of Oujda with its airport at present being extended to be able to cope with the growing upflow of tourists by 2010.
The city of Saidia has around 18,000 inhabitants. It has tens of kilometers of fine sand and its ideal climate throughout the year makes it one of the most beautiful seaside resorts of Northern Morocco.
